Ruth Harvey was arguably Australia’s first female curator of a public art gallery. In 1932, 24-year-old Ruth was appointed as Curatrix of the Art Gallery of Ballarat, a role she assumed when her father Charles Harvey passed away after 24 years as Gallery Curator.
